WildAid are running a campaign.
A campaign to make 2016 the year of the elephant!
The year the ivory trade stops!
The year more elephants are born than killed by poachers!
But it can only be the year of the elephant if enough people get behind the idea, if enough people join the herd.
Why should I?…
Because…
- 33,000 African elephants are killed each year for their ivory.
- Tanzania lost 60% of its elephants between 2009 and 2014.
- Central Africa has lost 64% of its elephants in a decade.
- 3-5 million African elephants roamed the plains in the early part of the 20th century now there are only 470,000 left.
I’ve joined the herd.

If enough of us can spare that 30 seconds to add our names we can become the powerful force to make this the year that the trade in ivory stops…we can’t look the other way!
If you are feeling creative you can create your own Year of the Elephant poster. Jemima and Juno gracefully put themselves forward for the creation of the POWEs poster.

Walking off into the sunset. Knowing they are safe. Knowing Juno will always have her mummy by her side.
MY NAME IS IMOGEN I #JOIN THE HERD
Will you?
